Can you smoke electronic cigarettes around pregant women?

I am four months pregant and my husband recently switched to electronic cigarettes. He claims it’s perfectly okay to smoke these right by me even in the house. Is this true?

E-cigarettes: harmless inhaled or exhaled

No second hand smoke … Second hand mist from an e-cigarette is not smoke at all, and does not contain any substance known to cause death, short or long term, in the quantities found. It becomes invisible within a few seconds, and is not detectable by smell…

Exhaled breath after e-cigarette use has been tested for CO only. No increase in CO was found…

Exhaled breath after e-smoking contains even less nicotine per puff, as much of the nicotine inhaled is absorbed. Similarly, propylene glycol is largely absorbed and little is exhaled…

The e-cigarette does not create side-stream smoke…

Propylene glycol is harmless – it is used in making theatrical fog and as an ingredient in soaps, personal lubricants and intravenous medicines.

No harm found in e-cigarette mist..

Where can I purchase electronic cigarettes in Michigan?

Buying online is not an option. I’m looking for retail stores in Michigan where I can physically purchase electronic cigarettes.

Thanks

Have you tried large malls near you? Smoking Everywhere has a kiosks in some malls.

I would never recommend them if you were able to buy online (there are many better options out there), but they are the only place I know that has retail locations across the US. They charge $149 for a starter kit which is CRAZY, especially since they sell it cheaper on their website. It also isn’t refillable so you loose out on that cost savings. But, you can "physically" purchase from them if there is one near you.

According to their website, it is available in 170 locations with 200 more to open this year. How do the new Blu electronic cigarettes work?

It says they’re smoke free and odor free. I don’t smoke, but it just interest me. Can you tell me how it works?

They work by simply atomizing a mixture of water, propylene glycol or vegetable glycerin, and nicotine (if desired) contained in a cartridge (cartomizer) which is attached to what is essentially a cell phone battery, into a breathable mist / vapor that you inhale in the same manner as cigarette smoke. If you have ever seen a fog machine in a club or concert it is the same principle. The plus side of it is there is no tobacco, and no combustion taking place, which eliminates the 4000+ carcinogens contained in tobacco smoke, and since it is not actually smoke you are free to "vape" wherever you want. I myself was a cigarette smoker for 13 years and failed to quit despite trying numerous times, when I heard about the E-cigarette (bad name for it, should be referred to as a personal vaporizer) naturally I was skeptical, but after purchasing one and using it steadily I was able to abstain from cigarettes for an entire 3 months, and eventually didn’t even need the device any longer and sold it for 95% of my money back. To this day I am tobacco and nicotine free thanks to this technology which has basically saved my life, and I always highly recommend to anyone trying to kick the disgusting smoking habit.

If you want to learn more, the link for the particular brand I was using is below.

ELECTRONIC CIGARETTES?

i BOUGHT A G-4 BRAND OF ELECTRONIC CIGARETTE AND IM NOT REALLY LIKING IT TO WELL…
I WAS WONDERING IF ITS POSSIBLY TO BUY FILTERS THAT WOULD FIT ONTO THE BATTERY I HAVE NOW THAT IS A REAL MENTHOL FLAVOR AND NOT JUST THESE STUPID LITTLE DROPS IM SUPPOSE TO PUT IN IT

ALSO WHAT IS THE CHEAPEST (BEST) E-CIG YOU KNOW OF!
I PAID 29 FOR THIS G-4 AND 9.99 FOR THE LIQUID< PRETTY CHEAP BUT SUCKS!

It’s highly possible you can buy more carts but buying liquid is actually more cost effective @ around $5 for 10ml. I have no idea what model the G-4 is compatible with but you can pick up other e-cigs cheaper that are of good quality. Even a disposable 510 around 10-15 dollars. They’ll last awhile before they die off and I think their parts are interchangeable with the regular Joye 510 kits if you pick one of those up later.

Check out some forums for more info. Someone will know what you have and what is compatible with it I’m sure. Try vapersforum.com (VF) or e-cigarette-forum.com (ECF) you’ll get tons of info and can shop through some of their supporting vendors. ECF pretty much has a virtual mall of vendors. Plenty of prices and stuff to shop.

where can I buy electronic cigarettes in massachusetts?

I would like to buy an electronic cigarette in a store in Massachusetts. I don’t want to buy online.
I would like to buy an electronic cigarette in a store in Massachusetts. I don’t want to buy online because I have a flight tomorrow and clearly didn’t plan ahead enough. I won’t have time to receive it via the internet, but that is clearly the fault of my poor planning than anything else.

You can check local smoke/head shops.

There are kiosks popping up in some malls.

A word of caution though, *most* of the ecigs that are currently available locally are cheap knock off electronics that are over priced.

You may not want to purchase online, but you will find better quality products for a lower price if you do.

If you dont have a credit or debit card, get a prepaid credit card or a visa gift card to purchase the items with.

I used this forum to get most of my information.. If you are seriously considering investing in an ecig, I STRONGLY urge you to do some homework first.

does anyone know how the nicotine levels in tobacco and electronic cigarettes compare?

just wondering because i ordered 8 mg electronic cigarettes which compares to a light tabbaco cig. i’m not sure if lights are 8 mgs too.

Cigarettes have around 14mg of nicotine in them. Once you set it on fire and lose most of it through sidestream smoke etc, a cig delivers around 1mg.

Dr Eissenberg says that ten puffs of 16mg delivers no real nicotine to the blood and Dr Laugesen says 16mg for five minutes vaping delivers about a tenth of the amount of nicotine to the blood as a cig.

Different chemicals are also present in smoke such as ammonia that convert the nicotine to freebase so it gives a faster and more noticeable hit. Ecigs deliver nicotine less efficiently and slower.

Do you think Electronic Cigarettes are a waste of time?

My auntie gave up smoking and went to the electronic cigarette instead of gum. In my eyes, electronic cigarettes are a waste of time because you’re not really breaking the habit and if for some reason, one day, the electronic device doesn’t work, because you are still in the habit you will buy a pack of cigarettes. What do you think??

I agree and disagree.

I agree because yes, many people do just switch from reg to ecigs.

But I diagree because ecigs are far healthier. Now, they arent healthy as in good for you, but they cut out about 3500 of the chemicals found in cig smoke. The ones that are still there are at a fraction of the level of what they are in real cigs. And the varying dosages of nicotine make it FAR easier to taper off.

The people who never quit the ecig never would have quit real cigs either. The best thing obviously would be to quit altogether. But for those who cant (the addiction is VERY powerful) or those who dont want to, the ecig gives them a healthier alternative.

Yes, the snafu of a nonworking ecig can be a pitfall. And that is why most ecig users carry a pouch with them that includes a charger, extra ecigs and extra cartridges. Plus, some of the local head shops or tobacco shops are starting to carry them. With some planning, you can avoid that kind of snafu. And lets face it, every smoker I have ever known is quite good at planning their addictions… buying cartons at a time, scheduling their day around smoke breaks, etc. If you go prepared, that is unlikely to happen.

Also, the ecig is different from smoking. It produces a misty vapor rather than smoke. Its kind of like the vapor mist fountains produce. So, after even just a few weeks of not having a reg cig, the smoke will taste absolutely nasty and make them cough really bad.

Beyond that, it costs less. Many people spend some money in the beginning finding what model and flavors they like, but after you get that worked out, the average person is looking at between a 40-70% reduction in cost from regular cigs.

So, overall, I think the benefits outweigh your wasting time objection.

how does the nicotine levels of tobacco and electronic cigarettes compare?

i ordered 8 mg electronic cigarettes, they told me that should compare to tobacco lights. i thought it was much higher in nicotine. does that mean electronic cigarettes deliver less nicotine than regular cigs?

The math doesn’t matter too much as there are too many variables to come down an exact number. Variables would be things like how you use the device, how you drag off it. How long and how often you use it, etc. Listen to your body. If the 8 mg liquid isn’t stopping your cravings, then bump it up to 12mg and see if that works for you. It’s a lot of trial and error in the beginning.
I started with 11-12 mg but found I needed 24mg in the mornings to satisfy the cravings then dropped it down the rest of the day. Everyone’s different so don’t be afraid to try different things to find what works for you. I smoked around a pack a day (give or take) of Ultra-Lights and it took me about 2 weeks to learn the e-cig and find what worked for me. Haven’t had a cig since.

E-cigs do deliver less nicotine and the method of absorption is slower. So instead of that instant nicotine craving satisfaction, it will take a minute or so longer. But no big deal.

The best resources I found for information is on forums. vapersforum.com and e-cigarette-forum.com have been invaluable to me in learning about these e-cigs. Switching was easy and staying off of tobacco with them is almost too easy. I smoked for over 30 years and it’s been almost 9 painless months since I switched. Tobacco free with my e-cigs! I’m a happy camper!

Good Luck & Happy Vaping!

ELECTRONIC cigarettes?

I have NO idea where to ask this so I’m putting it here. I figure drinkers may be smokers too LOL!

Anyway, has anybody tried electronic cigarettes? Someone was smoking one in the elevator today. I saw a tiny bit of smoke when he took a hit but didn’t smell anything at all.

My husband & I are both smokers & I’m interested in getting this for him because I want to go back to Hawaii & he’ll go completely batshit not being able to smoke on a plane for 5 1/2 hours.

Any experience? Good for heavy smokers or only light smokers? Brands? Are these legal to use on an airplane? Thanks!

Electronic cigarettes are like regular cigarettes, one size does not fit all. The pen style is a bit longer, however, the battery lasts longer and you can get a cigarette or two more out of the cartridge. It does look like you are auditioning for a remake of Breakfast at Tiffany’s though so your husband, might not like it.

The mini or super cigarette, is smaller and looks like a cigarette. This is what I use and I love it.

The nicotine cartridge lasts between 6-10 cigarettes. You can purchase different strengths and different flavors of nicotine. Once you get really comfortable, you can buy bottles of e-liquid and even refill your own cartridges (extremely easy and really cost effective).

Other than that, the throat hit is realistic, the consuming sensation you feel in your lungs is fulfilling and the outgoing vapor is great. You can blow smoke rings, you can french inhale, you can hold in a little bit longer to help it evaporate a little faster (good on a plane).

Another note on the plane: As with anything that you do in public that might set off bells, if you get a super/mini cigarette, you can cup the entire e-cig in your hand, like a cowboy. If you blow the vapor towards your feet and not up into the air, it will probably go unnoticed. And again, practicing to get yourself comfortable with it is a good idea.

Do the Blu Electronic Cigarettes actually work?

My husband wants to buy the Blu brand Electronic Cigarette and i am skeptial of it working. Just wondering if anyone has tried it?

I would probably go with a different brand. The Blu is over priced for what it is. But yes, electronic cigs can work. It doesnt for everyone, because it IS different. But it has worked for a lot of people.

I have had an ecig for almost three weeks. I went from smoking about half a pack a day, to about one pack in 5 days (the last pack I had). I have smoked 4 cigs over the last three days. I dropped my nicotine intake from about 9mg a day to about 4-5mg a day.

It will probably take a while to get off the ecig, but you can step the nicotine levels all the way down to 0 nicotine. And at that point the ecig just becomes a filler for the action of smoking while you work on getting away from the psychological addiction of the action of smoking.

I use the KR808D-1 model, which has been rebranded under several names. VaporKings and Vapor4Life are good suppliers. There are cheaper prices if you order out of china, but some packages are being blocked by customs.

Currently, ecigs are completely legal in the US. A handful of districts have included them in the smoking bans, but in most places they arent. Although, out of respect for the laws i tend to follow the smoking bans. I think to an extent not following them is just asking for legislation against them.

I used this forum to gather a lot of information. He should do research before he purchases to make sure he knows what he is getting and if it will meet his needs or not
