Electric nicotine for the Masses

From what I understand, they are in every way an improvement to the conventional cigarette. Does the FDA want our nation’s 40 million smokers to just die with no suitable replacement for their addiction? I do disagree with marketing to non-smokers, but smokers should have easy access to such an improvement to the conventional cigarette.

I think it’s all about the money, and the FDA can make a lot of money if it becomes mandatory for electronic cigarettes to go through them.

Their excuse is that nicotine is a medicine and should have to prove effective (at something), of certain quality and ’safe’. The only recreational nicotine products permitted by them apparently is tobacco. Their system of regulation removes the competition from tobacco products and pretends that medical nicotine products are effective. Medical nicotine is well proven to be ineffective and that’s a lot to do with the regulatory process itself. If caffeine was regulated in the same way it wouldn’t be much fun either probably and folks would use the non-medical products even if they were harmful.

If traders sell a product with medical claims there is no question that they bring themselves under medical regulation. If products are sold for recreational use then authorities in the US don’t know who can enforce consumer law so they’re leaving the problem to the FDA who can only regulate as medicine or tobacco. There will be a court hearing later in the month that will determine if ecigs are medical devices or not.

My theory is that the FDA is not concerned with public health but is simply wrapped up in bureaucratic power play and empire building at the cost of common sense. If ecigs had been regulated in a way proportionate to their level of risk in 1987 there would probably be quite a few million healthier ’smokers’ around now.

The anti-ecig campaigns by lobbyists and the FDA itself highlights the lack of concern for finding solutions to the old problems of tobacco that they thrive on.

We recently went smoke free in Wisconsin and I own a gas station and am wondering how we can go about selling the electronic cigarettes? Who do i get them from? How do I price them? any info would be appreciated!

The electronic cigarette forums are an excellent source of information. The electronic cigarette company that I have come across that offers quite a large range of styles and colors would be Cigarti. There are others but this one has a variety. To price them compare a few online companies and the prices they have for generally the same gear, and then add your mark up based on your time and cost for offering them in your store! There is no "best ecig" there is only an ecig that is "best for you". Seriously, it really depends a little on you and what you prefer.
The fact is that most e-cigarette models basically work the same way. In a nutshell, a battery powers an atomizer which vaporizes a nicotine/water solution that is inhaled by the user. The main differences are in overall quality/dependability as well as special/extra features that may appeal to you depending on your personality and needs.

Do you plan to refill your cartridges? If so, buy a 3 piece design.
Do you want it to look fake or realistic? Get a red LED or a blue/green one …
Do you want cartridges with Chinese made smoke juice or USA made smoke juice?

I saw a guy smoking inside a restaurant, and I was appalled!….then I realized that it was one of those new electronic cigarettes that exhale steam, and then I realized that guy looked like a douchebag attention whore. Do you agree?

Yeah they look pretty dumb. It’s kind of like drinking O’doul’s non alcoholic beer, pretty pointless. Cigarettes are dumb period! But if you’re going to smoke, then smoke a real cigarette. It’s a fad, and it will never catch on, because it’s not the real thing.

What’s up with Johnny the Dunk? Smoking indoors is practically illegal everywhere in the U.S., so wouldn’t you be appalled if you saw someone smoking indoors. I’d be like "wtf, who does this guy think he is?" The ones who disagreed with you are the same ones who probably smoke electronic cigs, anyway.

If it has nicotine(which it does) then yes.

But I do have to say, they are much better for you than cigarettes are.

I saw a woman smoking what I thought was a real cigarette in Sam’s today and found out later that it was one of those electronic cigarettes, it looks like the real deal and even looks like smoke when she exhaled but there was no tobacco smell . Just a vapor of sorts came out. I have never smoked and not offended if someone smokes around me, but, just to see someone in a public store is something I haven’t seen in quite sometime. I bet you will hear an out cry from anti smokers on this!

Actually, the fda is already trying to ban them, and in some areas they already fall under the public smoking ban.

Technially, its not water vapor. Its vegetable glycerin and propelyne glycol. Both ingredients are fda approved for use in food. Both ingredients are used in children’s fog machine toys. Both ingredients are used in real stage fog machines. Both ingredients are in real cigs, but not associated with physical dangers of cancer or copd.

You can get them with or without nicotine, and you can step down your nicotine dosage similar to the way every other nicotine replacement product suggests.

I think if a fair and impartial regulation could be done, I would support it… They do need to be age regulated just like any other nicotine product. There are unscrupulous companies and brands selling complete crap that could be a fire hazard or cause other damage/injuries.

But the fda is wanting to completely ban them, call them a smoking cessation tool by rx only, etc, etc, etc, The fda is also calling them more dangerous than cigs, even though independent studies on virtually every brand have concluded that none of the chemicals associated with higher risk of lung cancer or copd are in the vapor. They have shown that vapor is not damaging the lungs as smoke does. Heavy long term smokers are seeing the health improvements of completely quitting by switching to these.

Now, just like everything else, it will work for some, wont for others. But I think the fda ban is a direct result of the tobacco companies getting scared… tobacco companies that many of our law makers profit directly from.

I have one.. have had some success in cutting down, but havent quit real cigs. I dont want to quit, but need to for medical reasons. I see some flaws that could be better if they were a main stream product. But it seems like the only way to make them main stream is to comply with the fda labeling them more dangerous than cigs and putting crazy ridiculous regulations on them, instead of the ones that they need to have.

Most water vapour cigarettes are isolated nicotine, meant to be a substitution for tobacco, in that it sates your addiction without the harmful effects of additives and smoke. That being said, as a nicotine product, it is as unlawful to be sold or possessed by minours as any other tobacco product.

There are many benefits in using the e cigarette and there are no disadvantages in using the Electronic cigarettes the electronic cigarettes are widely used in most of all the countries and it doesn’t have any harmful hazards so it has been approved by most of the companies.
